FIRST TIME IN BC: This is an open seminar for anyone interested in learning the core strategy & rules of the Olympic-recognized JJIF's Fighting System (FS).
FS allows amateur competitors to showcase their versatile skills through utilizing all three FS phases—striking, takedowns, and submissions—which will be reviewed in-depth.
By the end of the seminar, instructors and athletes will understand how to safely and effectively practice FS's free sparring back at their own clubs and prepare for official competitions.
Instructors and athletes from BJJ, Jpn-JJ, Judo, Karate, Taekwondo, Wrestling and other MMA clubs are all welcome.
The maximum number of participants is 40 to allow for the best learning experience.
The Ju-Jitsu International Federation (JJIF) is the only Olympic-recognized international sport organization (ISO) for the competitive disciplines of jiu-jitsu grappling and the "strike-throw-grapple" Fighting System.
The special guest instructor is Ryan Bowen, the current national head referee, plus a 2nd degree black belt and a former national champion & Team Canada coach.
REQUIRED GEAR:
1) Dogi / gi jacket and pants (any colour), plus personal belt
2) Sparring gloves/mitts of about 4-6 ounces (padding 1-3 inches) that allows striking and grabbing (styles could be Fighting System, karate, MMA, karate, TKD, etc)
OPTIONAL GEAR:
Shin/instep pads, Mouthguard, Groin cup (males)
NOTE: There will be no full-speed free sparring practiced since this an intro seminar on the technical strategy and rules.
